Airway Rescue
Emergency Ventilator

The world is facing an unprecedented crisis with Covid-19. One of the most critical pieces of life-saving equipment that is in extremely short supply are ventilators. A ventilator helps you breathe when you can’t breathe for yourself. In critical situations, having a ventilator or not literally means the difference between life and death.

Features

  • Protect healthcare workers
    from COVID-19

The moment when healthcare workers are most at risk of COVID-19 infection is at the numerous points where a patient must be put on and removed from various ventilators: from the manual device used in the ambulance, to field ventilators, to fully-fledged ventilators. Such transitions kill health workers.
  • Abundant supplies of critical parts

Abundant supplies of parts already found in hospitals for the sterile air pathway, for device calibration and for sanitization. Our device uses a BMV bag, as well as PEEP and pressure valves used throughout the field. Ambu is the leading manufacturer but many other companies throughout the world manufacture equivalent and often identical devices. Calibration is done using a spirometer commonly found in any hospital. No materials used in the production of the device make contact with the critical air pathway.
  • Low cost

Our ventilator is designed to be manufactured as cheaply as possible, while being of the highest quality. Our goal is to build and ship these units for less than $500 each.
  • Enhanced viral filtration

For additional health care worker protection, the AirwayRescue ventilator reduces the viral loads in all exhalations before condensing moisture away from aerosol forms and filtering the remains.
  • Easy to sterilize

The components can be fully disinfected by placing it in a plastic bag and using an ozone bath from readily-available mass-market ozone generators.
  • Fast to assemble

In its most common form the device can be assembled in less than 15 minutes from its constituent parts.
  • Broad availability of components

All of our components can be quickly sourced on the market; none of the components are provided by a single supplier or manufactured in a single country or continent; many of the components can be found at a hardware store.
